Q. What are Rubbabu Toys made of?

A. Simple, safe ingredients are carefully chosen. The main body of the toy is natural rubber that has been foamed and baked. So 97% of the toy is made of rubber - a strong, sustainable, hypo-allergenic, anti-microbial and flame retardant material. The paints we use are created inside our factory using pigments bought in America. The surface is flocked with a high quality 100% nylon fibre sourced from a reputed Spanish manufacturer.

Q. What makes them so soft and fuzzy?

A. Rubbabu's signature texture comes from a process of flocking. In flocking, very thin and small fibres are glued onto an object so that they stick straight out at right angles to the surface. Imagine thousands of these fibres standing very close to each other so that you can only feel their tops. That's what creates the soft velvety surface that is so much fun to touch!

Q. What age group are these toys appropriate for?

A. Rubbabu toys are safe for ages 0+. Realistically infants 6 months and older will be able to play with toys. For very young ones, these toys offer valuable sensory stimulation. As babies grow and develop greater dexterity, they are able to grasp and hold the toy, and toddlers will be able to do much more - throw and catch and bounce the soft balls, roll and race the cars, build with the blocks, and spell using our alphabets.

Children and adults with special needs find our toys helpful because they offer tactile stimulation, a safe material and simple shapes.

Q. How do I clean my Rubbabu toy? Can I put it in the washing machine?

A. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The surface is a high quality nylon which cleans easily. We do not recommend washing in the machine.

Q. Where are they made and who makes them?

A. They are made in our own factory in India, where we are proud to give more a hundred people good, safe, well paying jobs. Our Indian company is run by Rahul Butalia, the founder of Rubbabu, and holds a certification from ICTI - the International Council of Toy Industries for ethical manufacturing.

Q. What do people like most about them?

A. Our customers around the world love that this is a soft, squishy toy made from safe materials that will not harm a baby. It offers tactile stimulation with the velvety squishy surface. Toddlers are engaged by the bright colors and texture, and form quite a bond with their Rubbabu toys we've heard!

Q. Are they safe for babies?

A. Yes! Our toys pass all the international and national safety tests for ages 0+. We take care to make our paints in house from American pigments and buy the highest quality flock from Spain, so everything that goes into the toy is completely child-safe.

Q. Are they teething toys?

A. While they are safe to mouth because they are completely non-toxic, they are not teething toys. Our customers around the world want to be able to give their little ones a soft and natural plaything, and understand that every medium has it's limitations. This natural soft material is safe and fun, however it is not meant for teething, and should be used with adult supervision if a teething child is biting on it.

Q. What makes these toys sustainable? And biodegradable?

A. 97% of the toy is natural rubber, which is sustainable because it is sourced from trees without cutting them or hurting them, and can be tapped from the tree every year. Natural rubber is 100% biodegradable.
That leaves the 3% of the toy that is made from nylon, which encases the soft natural foam and makes it possible for us to use this wonderful natural material!

Q. What will my child learn by playing with these toys?

A. Well, that's really up to your child! Our toys are very basic which means there are endless play possibilities and hence learning opportunities!
At 3 months she may just enjoy the sensation of touching a little Rubbabu animal. At 6 months she may learn to grasp with one of our bumpy textured balls. At a year, she may throw or roll the ball or car and chase after it, encouraging her to crawl and walk.
Playing with blocks is a great way to develop reasoning and spatial skills and you can give our soft blocks to a child as young as 6 months old.
